The arts field also has become a lot wider than it used to be, and hence, there is a lot of scope for the people studying arts and even more for the people who are genuinely talented.

Gone are the days when parents used to look down upon the arts field because they thought that their children will make the most money if they became engineers, or doctors, or lawyers. With so many companies using various different ideas to advertise and promote themselves, it’s artists they are demanding for now. This is where the job of Graphic Designer comes in.

Graphic designers convey inspiring and informative ideas in advertisements, brochures and other marketing communications materials. Some graphic designers work for specialized design firms as part of a collaborative team, while others are self-employed and work independently. Print and digital designers use complex graphics tools to manipulate text, images, animations and color.

HOW TO GET STARTED

They can put their emerging skills to use designing and producing the school newspaper or yearbook. Graphic design requires a good eye and a creative mind, but also tantamount are the development of solid practical skills and software fluency. The sooner the student begins preparations, the better.

After high school, it is important to get a college degree since this field is getting increasingly competitive. Earlier, there were people getting hired strictly because of their portfolios. Today, however, most employers are looking for designers with a more complete and well-rounded education – the kind only a college degree can provide. A certificate in the field, or an associate’s degree, may be sufficient in some cases, but the U.S. Department of Labor reports that fledgling designers are much more likely to land a quality job only after earning a bachelor’s degree.
